Efudix Cream Information

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Fluorouracil 5% w/w.
Inactive Ingredients: Stearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, white soft paraffin, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, methyl hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl hydroxybenzoate (E216), and purified water.

Directions for Use

  • Clean and dry the affected area before application.
  • Apply a thin layer of Efudix Cream directly onto the skin lesion using a gloved hand or applicator.
  • Gently rub into the skin until fully absorbed.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after use unless treating the hands.
  • Typically used once or twice daily as directed by your doctor.
  • Continue treatment for the full prescribed duration, even if the skin appears irritated.

Precautions

  • For external use only. Avoid contact with healthy skin and eyes.
  • Do not use on broken, infected, or inflamed skin unless advised by a healthcare provider.
  • If accidental contact with eyes occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice.
  • Avoid exposure to sunlight or UV light during treatment, as it may increase skin sensitivity.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Seek immediate help if swallowed.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have known allergies.
  • Stop use and speak to your doctor if severe skin reactions occur such as blistering, excessive redness, or pain.
  • Keep away from pets/animals due to its toxicity to them.

Additional Information

  • Efudix Cream is used to treat actinic keratoses (sun-damaged skin) and certain superficial skin cancers.
  • The active ingredient, fluorouracil, works by interfering with the growth of abnormal cells in the skin.
  • Fluorouracil inhibits DNA synthesis, causing targeted destruction of precancerous and cancerous cells.
  • This allows healthy skin to regenerate over time as damaged cells are removed.
  • Use regularly as prescribed for optimal results, and complete the full course of treatment.
  • Do not cover the area with bandages unless instructed by your doctor.
  • Seek medical attention if skin irritation becomes severe or if symptoms persist after treatment.
