Understanding Dry Skin

Dry skin is a common condition that causes dryness, itching, redness, and inflammation. It can appear anywhere on the body and often flares up in response to triggers like allergens, stress, or irritants. The exact cause is unknown, but it’s linked to genetics and environmental factors. Treatment includes moisturizing, avoiding triggers, and using products like emollient creams or antihistamines to manage symptoms.

Causes Of Eczema

Acne is caused by several factors. Excess oil production from the sebaceous glands can clog pores. Dead skin cells and oil buildup in the pores can lead to blockages. Bacteria can grow in these clogged pores, causing inflammation. Hormonal changes, such as those during puberty, menstruation, or pregnancy, can increase oil production. Stress can also trigger acne. Certain foods, like dairy or greasy foods, may contribute to breakouts. Genetics can play a role, as acne tends to run in families. Additionally, some medications can worsen acne.

Genetics

Acne can be caused by genetics because if your parents had acne, you’re more likely to develop it too. Inherited traits can affect how your skin produces oil, how easily your pores clog, and how your body responds to bacteria, all of which can lead to acne.

Hormonal Changes

Hormonal changes can trigger acne by increasing oil production in the skin. During puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, or while using birth control, hormone levels fluctuate, leading to clogged pores and breakouts.

Medical Conditions

Certain medical conditions can contribute to acne by affecting hormone levels or increasing oil production. Conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which causes hormonal imbalances, and other endocrine disorders can lead to more frequent or severe acne breakouts.

Medications

Some medications can trigger acne as a side effect. Drugs like corticosteroids, certain birth control pills, and medications that affect hormone levels can increase oil production or cause skin changes, leading to clogged pores and breakouts.

Several treatment options are available for managing acne, including:
