Vitaros Cream is a topical medication designed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It contains the active ingredient alprostadil, which enhances blood flow to the penis, facilitating the achievement and maintenance of an erection suitable for sexual activity.

How Does It Work?
Alprostadil, the active component in Vitaros, is a vasodilator that works by relaxing and widening blood vessels. When applied directly to the penile opening, it increases blood flow to the erectile tissue, leading to an erection. This mechanism is particularly beneficial for men who may not respond adequately to oral ED medications.
Clinical studies have shown that approximately 52% of men experience improved erections after using Vitaros Cream. It's important to note that sexual stimulation is necessary for the cream to be effective; it does not induce an erection without arousal.
Vitaros Cream typically begins to work within 5 to 30 minutes after application, with effects lasting up to two hours. This allows for a degree of spontaneity in sexual activity compared to some other ED treatments.
Recommended Application: Apply the entire contents of one single-use applicator (300 micrograms of alprostadil) directly to the opening at the tip of the penis (urethral meatus).
Frequency: Do not use more than once in a 24-hour period and no more than two to three times per week.
Administration Steps:
Wash and dry your hands and genital area thoroughly.
Hold the applicator upright and remove the cap.
Gently squeeze the tip of your penis to widen the opening.
Place the tip of the applicator as close as possible to the opening without inserting it.
Press the plunger to dispense the cream into the opening.
Hold your penis upright for about 30 seconds to allow the cream to penetrate.
Dispose of the applicator properly and wash your hands.
Side Effects of vitaros cream
As with any medication, Vitaros Cream may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include:
- Local Reactions: Mild burning, itching, or discomfort at the application site.

Contraception: Vitaros is not a contraceptive. Use appropriate contraception to prevent pregnancy.
Protection: Use a condom if your partner is pregnant, breastfeeding, or of childbearing potential to prevent exposure to the medication.
Medical Conditions: Consult your doctor before using Vitaros if you have conditions such as sickle cell anemia, leukemia, anatomical deformation of the penis, or a predisposition to priapism.
Storage: Store Vitaros Cream in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). It can be kept at room temperature (below 25°C) for up to three days prior to use. Do not freeze.
